As you are upgrading the database to 11G I would suggest you to install the 11G software according to the SAP recommendation which should be drive:\oracle\<SID>\11203 and then upgrade the database.

Check the SAP profile parameters what is the dhhome mentioned
Accordingly adjust the oracle_home environment variable. Post this check the starting and stopping of the oracle database.
For performing the upgrade to oracle 11g you need to set new oracle home .
Follow the upgrade process mentioned in the oracle upgrade guide.
