Business Objects 4.0 Line Chart

Hi,

Need your help guys about line chart.

I have this sample data.

CustomerDemand month1
Demand month2Demand month3
Cust120002004000
Cust2300010004000
Cust3500060004000
Total10000720012000

When I tried to transform it to line chart, the measures (Demand month1, 2 and 3) was automatically assigned in value axis.

The dimension (Customer) was for category axis.

Is there a way to change to what axis they will be assigned?

Also, tried the cross table, didn't work either.

Thanks

Dan

Hardik / Arijit,

I was not able to find the solution in the link.

Don't know how to view structure of the chart. that I can't move anything inside the chart.

If I try to move, the whole chart moves.

I have tried these also:

     1. right clicking the chart

     2. viewing the report in design mode (Structure Only)

      3. using the document structure and filters on the left side of the window.

Kindly help.

Btw, I'm using ver4.0

Thanks.

Sathish,

Is there a way to make the BU and M dimension be assigned in Value Axis 1?

Also the B and M(2) measure be assigned in Category?

Thanks

Danilo,

There won't be any use of assigning in changing the axis.

I'm thinking that you are looking for a different format in line chart.

Can you post directly so that , we can input better.

Hi,

What Satish said is right. there would not be any use of assigning dimension to value axis. because Consider example if we see City,Region on both on same axis and sales on other axis. then how do you analysis od data.?

Apart form this is there any new way requirement of representation then please attach.

First graph is what I always get from BI.

Second graph is what I want to produce.

As you can see in first graph, the lines is based on measures (Month1 - Month5).

Second graph has one line for each customer.

Figures was created randomly so it will not be matched.

I just want to show what I want to come up.

Thanks as usual,

Dan

Hi Danilo

You can achieve this by placing customer in Region Color and Month in category axis. It'll group the data

Hi Sathish,

My problem is our universe design has no month.

Meaning, each month is assigned in one measure already.

     eg.

January demand will be placed in Month1 measure

February demand is Month2 measure and so on.

Doing what you said, graph will show dots only.

Is there a way to word around this limitation? Or do you suggest to redesign our universe?

Thanks,

Dan

I have revenue measures for January, February, ...

Hi,

In addition to Gill yes you can assign data to line chart. But only measure will assign to value axis and dimesnion will assign to category axis.

Danilo,

Right mouse click on your chart and take the option for Assign Data. You get to choose then what dimensions and value fields go where.

Hi Dannilo,

You can move measures from one axis to another using "View Structure". I would suggest to go through following Quick Tutorial developed by SAP, as it will explain all the features for charts which could be very helpful:

switch to structure view of the chart and you can reposition the objects to change axis.
