New SAP Installation with existing Oracle RAC

Hello,

I've been doing a research for the following. The requierement is to have a new SAP AS Java installed, but use an exisiting Oracle RAC for its DB instance.

From this Oraclle White Paper:

http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/808a4099-f228-2d10-a69f-b3d37c72f...

I understand that "there is no option available from SAP to install an Oracle RAC enabled database directly", so I need to do a SAP new install and then have the database migrated to the existing RAC?

I was thinking of a possible workaround by installing a Distributed system and having the DB instance installed directly in the RAC nodes, though I'm not sure if this is even possible or supported.

Thanks and regards,

JM

Hello

I believe you can get the information from here

Note 527843 - Oracle RAC support in the SAP environment

Thank you, this documentation helps a lot!

It looks that the best approach is to have it installed as a single database instance first and have it migrated to the Oracle RAC. I think.

I'll come back and let you know how we managed this requirement.

Regards.
