Hello,
We have installed IDM 7.2 SP8 with remote Oracle instance. We have successfully installed the product but Identity center is reporting about "Identity centre is 7.1" in red color. Is there any sql command I can run to verify the Identity centre schema version?
We ran schema install and MC septup from 7.2 SP8 installable. But still Identity centre is reporting about Schema version 7.1. Is this a product defect?
Thanks,
Dhiman Paul.
Hi All,
Any solution regarding this case?
I am pretty in the middle of a migration from 7.1 to 7.2, and I have the exact same problem with the management console. I am not able to expand the tree, and the very same error appears.
I don't have the option just to drop the database and reinstall it. (except the old one from the backup)
Well, it seems it doesn't only appear on Oracle but also in SQL Server.
It seems to me that the schema update or the management console code got wrong.
Any help? Thank you!
Best regards,
Ferenc

Hi Matt,
Thanks for your reply.
We upgrade from 7.1 (SP04) to 7.2 latest. We've run the MigrateDB Basic and the second schema update, and afterwards we were not able to start up the IC Management Console. Same problem as in the screenshot above (post of Dhiman Paul Sep 25, 2013 10:38 AM).
It seems I have resolved it (for now).
The global Variable 72_DATA_MIGRATION has not been set, no clue why.
So executing the statement below allowed me then to start up the console and continue with the migration steps.
INSERT INTO mc_global_variables(VARNAME, VARVALUE, VarCategory)
VALUES ('72_DATA_MIGRATION', 'TRUE', -2)
I just wonder what else has not been set and missed by the schema update?!
Thanks for listening.
Cheers, Feri
Hi Luis,
Thanks for your reply.
I am not entirely sure whether it'd be enough to set this hidden global variable and afterwards running IdM without any further issues.
So, I would suggest you that you run the Installation/Upgrade scripts again as suggested above by Matt Pollicove.
Our issue was different. We have migrated from 7.1 to 7.2. The MigrateDB BASIC sets this flag usually at the end of running when it's been executed fully and successfully.
Cheers, Feri
Hi All,
Thanks for your help. Ultimately reinstallation of schema and IC has solved the issue.

Dhiman Paul.

Dhiman,
I just had this issue on oracle, and I've had it on SQL Server as well.
Make sure you are running the install / update scripts from the SP release of IDM and not the master release (the archive that has the runtime, designtime, vds and sca files in the same archive)
The one you want is on the service marketplace under Software Downloads -> Browse our Download Catalog -> SAP NetWeaver and complimentary products -> SAP NW IDENTITY MANAGEMENT -> SAP NW IDENTITY MANAGEMENT 7.2 -> Comprised Software Component Versions -> IDENT. CENTER DESIGNTIME 7.2 -> Windows on x64 64bit -> and then pick based on your SP level.
Hope this helps you!
Matt
Hi Dhiman,
Were you able to resolve this issue?
Please share the resolution here.

Hi Krishna,
I am first time installing IDM 7.2 SP8 in a brand new database. Why should I run migrate script?

Dhiman Paul.

HI Dhiman,
Yes, If it is a new installation, there is no need to run the migration scripts.
It looks strange for me, why you are getting the compatibility mode set to on !!
I would suggest you to re-install(drop n recreate) the IDM database. Believe me, most of the time doing a fresh installation fixes issues !!
Thanks,
Krishna.

Hello Dhiman,
thank you for the screenshot. The message talks about a guide (I think it's the same as Krishna has mentioned above: SAP NetWeaver® Identity Management Migration guide - Identity Management 7.1 to 7.2), did you use that one to migrate? I would check that guide again and deactivate the compatibility mode as I think the message points to that.
Also in the guide in section "Upgrading the Identity Center database" it states at point 7:
Upgrade the database schema again (run mxmc-update) to complete the database upgrade.
Note: This is a crucial part of the upgrade procedure.
Did you follow that through?
Regards,
Steffi.
Hello Dhiman,
nope, sorry. Like Krishna (and yourself ^^) I find that pretty confusing. oO That's why we thought you had migrated from 7.1 to 7.2 in the first place. Sorry for the confusion.
I'd go with Krishnas suggestion: at this point a new installation doesn't hurt as much as trying to fix this somehow and later on it's maybe going to haunt you in another way.
Regards,
Steffi.
Hi,
I will attach the screenshot on tomorrow.
My schema version is showing 1100
what should be the correct IC version for schema version 1100?
Any thought?
Thanks,
Dhiman Paul.

Hi Dhiman,
In your earlier post, You have mentioned that v7.1 Compatibility mode is checked.
This means you have migrated from IDM 7.1 to 7.2. Am I correct ?
After you have migrated from SAP IDM 7.1 to 7.2, the Identity Center will run in compatibility mode. To obtain optimal performance and avoid unnecessary disk usage, you should turn off the flag. To know more about on how to turn off the compatibility mode flag off, please refer to SAP NetWeaver Identity Management: Migrating from Identity Management 7.1 to 7.2 available @ http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-8397
I guess beacuse of this you are confused whether your database schema is updated to the right schema or not.
All the best !!
Thanks,
Krishna.
Hi,
I ran mxmc-install (for DB schema) from oracle folder and setup from setup folder (for design time). Both mxmc-install and setup from SP8 installables.
Is there any sql command through which I can confirm db schema version?
thanks,
Dhiman Paul.

Hi Dhiman,
You can check the version of IC and the Identity database as shown in the screenshot. (ATTACHED)
In the screenshot
"A" refers to the Identity center management console version, in my case, IDM 7.2 SP7
"B" refers the database schema version. in my case 1094.
I guess, in your case your "B" part is coming red, which means the database schema is not updated. Please update the database component of SAP IDM with the corresponding service pack version.
All the best.
Thanks,
Krishna.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
In my case
B is showing 1100
A is showing 7.20.8.3 (as I am using SP8)
And v7.1 compatibility checkbox is showing checked. Any idea why in my case v7.1 is showing instead of 7.2.
Why this error is showing when I ran schema install and MC install both from same build (SP8)? Any thought?
Any idea which SP is stable in 7.2 release?
Regards,
Dhiman Paul.
Hello Dhiman,
Since your IC is on SP8, database schema also should be on SP8(but i guess you are already on !!) . But again, get the ICdesign time component of SP8, and use the database scripts to update your database to schema level of SP8. Refer to document SAP-NW_IdM_IC_Install_Oracle_7-2 in documnets folder of IC_Designtime that is downloaded to know on how to update the database schema. You should run mxmc-update.cmd if on windows. If on unix, mxmc-update.sh
By the way how did you install the database? running each database script one by one ? or by executing mxmc-install.cmd ?
If you did it by running script by script, which is not advised !!, there are high chances that you miss the dependencies on objects !! So always run the scripts by either mxmc-install.cmd or mxmc-update.cmd
Thanks,
Krishna.
