problem installing sap abap trial version.

hello all,

i am trying to instal sap netweaver abap trial  version on my office computer.

the installation has started and someone accidently shut down my computer.

now ai am resuming old installation. then it throws some error,

i am enclosing screenshot of the error.

if this does not gets resolved, i am thinking to format my computer

and going ahead with new fresh installation.

please please suggest me what to do.

Are you able to telnet to the port 3300 ?

Are you able to start the SAP system manually from the MMC ?

Try to start the SAP system and check whether system comes up.

There is also a possibility that the issue could be with the host name used and the entries in the hosts file.

I dont  know  how to telnet port 3300.

Please guide me how to do this.

What is sap mmc. How can i check whether the system is up from sap mmc.

I have posted screen shot of hosts file.please check if you feel that that there may be problem with that.

i guess this is a some port error.

the error is something about port 3300.

there exists already a entry in services file in ETC directry.

Everything is OK from the logs and it will take time, as said.

Just be patient and wait for the magic to happen.

somehow , i have formatted my computer and re- install the trial version.

now it is stuck in phase 18 out of 27.(From last 1.5 hours.)

is there something wrong??

Hi,

This will take time . It can go up to 24 hours depending on the type of the system and the export dump.

So don't worry now till you see error screen.

HI,

It takes time. In case it shows some erroneous jobs also, you can repeat it repeatedly.  In my case also it took time as Rishi has mentioned & I got some failed job also, but after repeating it , it got successfully finished.

The whole process has taken 3-4 hours, according to you people it may take 8-24 hours.

Hi,

Please read the comments . It was mentioned that it takes time and the process varies depending on the export and the type of installation.

It looks to be an issue with the time settings of the SIDADM.

Is the host name of the system maintained in the host file.

Please also check this.

1. Is the system up and running and can you logon with both DDIC and SAP* user in client 000.                                         

2. If yes, proceed as follows:                                     

3. Logon with user DDIC in client 000 and execute the jobs RSWBOINS and RADDBDIFF in transaction SE38, if no errors then procced.                                     

4. Ensure that all sapinst-processes are stopped.Copy keydb.xml to keydb.xml.org and then modifiy keydb.xml as follows:                                                        

Look for the string SAPINST_INST_STATUS and afterwards for the            

string CDATA[ERROR] replace 'CDATA[ERROR]' by 'CDATA[OK]'.                

5. Proceed with the installation as usual.

If RADDBDIFF doesn't exist, still follow all the steps with RSWBOINS.

Yes, i have maintained an entry in the hosts file.

as you can see, i am facing an error in phase 27 out of 27. that means installation has not

completed successfully, then how am i able to log on.

once the installation gets completed, i'll install sap gui trial version.

please please help, i am just a step away from this thing.

Hi,

Have you got sap gui on the PC where you are doing the install.

If yes then try to maintain the login details of the system .

as its windows there would be SAP MMC also installed on the machine. Please check the mmc and see if all is green.

Yes i have got sap gui trial version..should i install it even when there is an error in installing main sap trial version..??

I tried to open sap mmc...(i guess u are talking abt sap management console)..but it hangs whenever i try to open that.

Hi,

Yes you can install Sap Gui.

SAP MMC is used to show you if the application is running or not.

How much memory does this system have .

Please check the logs in /usr/sap/SID/DV*/work

Please check the usage of CPU and Memory used if application is running.

Hi, I have NOT checked your problem in detail, but I'm almost sure hat your installation has been cancelled after DB creation and is not starting now. I highly suggest to check the status  off DB installation. Other hand , I believe, the best option is just to delete and to install it again. You should be happy owner of SAP one-two hours later, so ...

Dyns.dns is bad choice, you can have any domain name, just add short and full name to hosts file.

Please Install the MAX db studio and see the status of the database.

Once you have installed the studio and you can connect to it .

Anothere thinsg is the password.

Problem
If the database manager operator (control) user password contains the character "@", the db_create command gets stuck. If the database system administrator (superdba) user password contains the character "@", the db_activate command gets stuck. If the database user password contains the character "@", the "create user" command gets stuck.
Solution
Make sure you do not enter "@" in a database password.

yes, actually it asked for master password.

and i gave the password as iail@100.

this was the only time when it asked for password.

i'll try to again resume the installation as it is stuck on phase 13 out of 27 create database schema.

will any other special charater will have the same effect like !,$??

As per the installation note only @ is mentioned .

I know a note how to change the password for MAXdb but just thinking that if you change the password now it can give issues further.

Best part to resolve it is not give this in the password and start fresh installation.

Below is the note to change password but would not suggest it at this stage.

maxDB studio can be downloaded from SMP.

one more thing, during define parameters when it asked for FQDN.

i checked FQDN and give DYNDNS.COM as dns name.

the pc you are installing on is it a network pc or a private home pc ?

if this is a normal home pc which is not on a network you can add an entry into the

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

for this domain

127.0.0.1 mypc.dnydns.com mypc

and you will only be able to acess the page from this pc.

dnydns.com is an internet service provider company, just wondering why you are using this as a domain name.

as your pc is on a network i would suggest to use the network name rather but you can use the work around by adding/replacing the entry

172.0.0.1     abhio-pc

with

172.0.0.1     abhio-pc.dnydns.com      abhio-pc

then you will be able to open a command line (cmd.exe) and ping abhio-pc.dnydns.com

Please post the error logs mentioned in attached screen shot. You will find the same under log sub-directory of installation directory.
