Hi

Here in this case it is a http client to abap proxy. For http client (sender CC) u wud not req sender agreement. Follow the below link for http client config:

https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/66dadc6e-0a01-0010-9ea9-bb6...

And u shud have the DT,MT, MI, Mapping in place. U wud do the req confir in ID and recv agreement will be for proxy. For that follow this link.

Combine these two and u will get ur thread anwsered for sure. In this post the file will be replaced by http client. remeber no need to sender agreement.

For receiver we need to configure it. for sender it is not required.

1)what is the purpose of XI adapter?

2)Am i correct that if it was sender abap proxy then we dont need to configure XI adapter ? and why?

yes you dont require XI adapter for sending we use proxies to avoid adapterless communication .it can directly interact with intergation server. the reason for reciver adpter is to provide authinaction but their no conversin happening any adapter of Xi either sending or recving.
