I have MAXDB on LINUX OS and NetApp NFS. I want to take Netapp snapshot. I want to put the MXDB on hot-backup mode similar to Oracle .

How to  put MAXDB in hot-backup mode , similar to Oracle DB ?

Hi Tony,

There is no hot-backup mode or similar function for MaxDB compared to Oracle DB. The data on MaxDB datafile is evenly distributed with approximately equal filling level. It's impossible for MaxDB to do the backup one datafile by another using Oralce-like way "begin backup ... end backup".

You can take NetAPP snapshot with your application and database online. I don't understand why you want to set DB mode for your snapshot.

Thanks Ray

I want to make sure if I take NetApp snapshot , the DB can be recovered in the consistent state.

You answered it.
