Hi,

Cutover strategy depends upon how the organizations design their data load strategies. Normally, you decide the sequence of Data loads for Configuration settings, Master data, Transaction data which follows whom and then you make a copy of the system as a Production system a day before and after checking the successful data loads, you go-live 100% or partial again depending upon organizational setup and policies.

Cutover planning is highly site specific. There's no thumb rule. The stock data as on the date of going live should be correctly entered. But stock being a highly dynamic quantity, the strategy for loading should be crystal clear. Then you have to load all the back dated transaction on the stock. Some stock comes into your plant/storage location as return and some stock is actually delivered to your customer through sales orders of various kinds.

as example , in simple words for MDM(master data maintenance) it means that after cutover - all data will be used of MDM and not legacy systems . for central master data scnerio ; Data before cutover date will be maintained in all systems and after cutover date , it will be maintained in MDM only .

Data can be uploaded using BDC programs, LSMW for master data and CATT is also being used.

Hope it helps. Please reward if useful.

Thanks & Regards

Client is a self contained unit in a R/3 system and identified by a 3 digit number. In a Single R/3 system there can be several clients Client has data and the data can be classified as Client dependent and client independent

Client dependent data: specific to the client. can be accessed only by logging in to the same client. The client specific data can be :

A) Enterprise structure data, Master data of Business partners , Master data of products, and most important all the customization data that has been saved under a customizing request number

B) Client independent data can be seen in all the clients present in a R/3 systems. R/3 repository consisting of source codes, tables, data element, screens etc form client independent data. If we make change to this data in one client, it reflects in all the clients

Gap analysis: This is done in the Business blue print. A business process cant be fully mapped into SAP even after doing all the possible customizations. In such case the gap has to be closed by using system modifications using User name space programs or User -Exits. User-Exits are the most preferred. Similarly modifications can be done in the areas of new fields, field exists, etc.

CIN: CIN refers to Country Version India . CIN is helpful to map business processes in Logistics and Accounting that are very specific to Country and these include

a) Processing Excise operations

b) Processing withhold tax(tax deduction at source)

c) Tax procedures for taxes for sales & purchases

Details can be accessed in standarad client 000/001 of SAP system 4.7

Prior to this CIN used to be avilable as patch

Hi,

There are two types of objects in SAP, client dependent and client independent.

Objects used in several clients are called client independent while objects used in a specific client is called client dependent. To identify if a table is client dependent, one can use tcodes SE11 or SE12. In the table field attributes, if the MANDT field is present that table is client dependent.

A client-dependent table has the field MANDT of data type CLNT, which indicates Client id.

A client-independent table does not have this field.

Data which can be access by all user are client independent (no mandt field in table). Data which can be access by some specific user are client dependent (use mandt field in table) .

Gap Analysis : means When u go for a project implementation, we will llook into the business process the company is executing its business. As we have to map the same into SAP, some of the transactions or aspects may not be available in standard SAP. For maintaining that transactions or business activities, we have to do an analysis for the requirements. This is nothing but called as GAP.

For filling the GAP or meeting the requirements , we generally do the customizations with the help of ABAPERs so that we can meet the situation.

Hi,

1. Client dependent data is which is specific to a particular client. One SAP instance may have multiple clients..for eg..100,200,300...100 can be used for development, 200 for Integration testing, 300 for QA testing....The data can be different in the three clients...Such data which can be maintained separately in separate clients is called Client Dependent data...In order to identigy whether the data is client dependent, one can use tcodes SE11 or SE12. In the table field attributes, if the MANDT (of data type CLNT) field is present, then that table is client dependent.

There are data which would be client independent. There are some config data which are applicable to all the clients..One such table is the Access sequences table T682...You won't find the MANDT field there..

2. Gap Analysis is the analysis to check what are the gaps between the existing legacy system and the new system being implemented. It is used to find out what existing business processes can be mapped in the new system or what cannot...The analysis is done to see if the Gap must be closed by writing a custom software or by finding a workaround (if custom software is not feasible) or no need to close the Gap.
