We have a requirement in our system to block around 200 product categories in both the SRM and ECC system.
We are working on SRM 5.5. Any help is much appriciated.
Hi,
Are you planning to delete product categories of just block?

Hi Nitin,
I doubt if you can block the Product category in ECC & SRM. Only thing you can do is to delete them.
Although m confused with your reply to Vinay, if suppose you are blocking the Prod Cat, than how come you use them in BI/BW reporting ? No docs will be created against the blocked Prod cat- right ?
Best Regards,
Anil
Anil,
I understand that we will not be able to generate any documents against the product categories. In our system the product categories are maintained in the SAP ECC backend system. Hence if up can please elaborate the procedure to delete the material groups in ECC and how to reflect those changes in the SRM system as well.
Many Thanks in Advance.
Regards
Nitin
Hi,
I am not sure, why exactly you wanted to why you wanted to delete the product categories.. Instead you can do below 2 things...
(1) "exclude" those product categories in org structure, If you wanted to do this for a mass of categories you can develop a program using FM BBP_UPDATE_ATTRIBUTES. With this, no one will be able to use product related to these product categories.
(2) Exclude those product categories in R3AC1 so that, the materials/services related to those categories will no more downloaded...
These 2 activities should serve for your all practical purpose....
Hope this would help...

Hi Nitin,
Remove GL account mapping of those Product catagory such that while creating PO it will pop up an error message saying 'No GL account determined for item'.
Hope this will solve your issue.
Thanks and Regards,
Shiva
