Hi guys,
compared to all other hardware vendors. IBM is providing GPFS as file system for their HANA appliance. Whats the big difference, advantage or disadvantage compared to XFS?
Cheers, Christoph.
Hi Christoph,
General Parallel File System(GPFS) provides high-performance file management, seamless capacity expansion, and high reliability and availability to help eliminate production outages and provide disruption-free maintenance and capacity upgrades. Another advantage of using GPFS for an SAP HANA implementation is it requires no additional external storage.
Please refer to this link which describes the performance of IBM GPFS but I am not sure to which other file system (xfs, ext3, ) it is compared to.
Regards
Raj
