Former Member

1. There are 1 item in the inquiry (VA11)

2. Account assigned to "XXX-002-00002" WBS Element.

3. We performed Unit costing for the Project WBS element with 3 finished Products.

3. In the DIP Profile - Material Detemination -> we have 4 dummy materials for Labour, Service, Material, Service cost internal.

4. When we execute DP81, Sales Price - View - we have Labour cost, Service cost, Material Cost Raw Matl, Service cost Internal.

But we would like to have 3 finished products listed in the Sales price view with their respective costplanning.

          Ex -           Product 1 - Material cost

                                  Labout cost

                                  External Service cost

                    Product 2 - Material cost

                                  Labout cost

                                  External Service cost

                    Product 3 - Material cost

                            Labout cost

                                  External Service cost

How do I configure this in the DIP profile ?

Please help me with this.

Thanks,

Karthik

Refer to this note: SAP Note 301117 - Enhanced documentation for dynamic item processor

This note tells you everything you need to know about the DIP.

Look at section 2.1.4.4 - You can do almost what you are asking but you first need to have the panel materials on a Sales Inquiry (not on the Project) and the correct WBS element for each panel account assigned to the correct Inquiry line.  You will have to structure the project by panel.  You will need 3 items in the inquiry: Product 1, Product 2, and Product 3.

Hi Karthik,

Try reconfigure Material determination section of DIP profile as below.

1.Create 3 Sales Material (MM)

2.Remove the present setting of Material Determination part

3.Add these three materials there

4.In the selection section define the sets (range of cost elements) for each material which includes your labor & Service cost.

The above setting should be sufficient to reflect your finished products in Sales Price tab of DP81.

As far as Sales pricing Basis tab of DP81 is considered you can still get the summary of Labour cost, Service cost, Material Cost Raw Matl, Service cost Internal. by defining relevant sets in Source selection section of DIP Profile.

But remember you cannot have overlap of cost elements in matertial determination.

Dear Ken Melching,

Thanks for your response.

We are implementing quotation process, yes we are not implementing RRB. But I believe DP 81 is also used to create quotation based on the project.

This is the reason we know we have to create quotation for item control panel, auxiliary panel. All we are looking to get is all costs related to those items should flow the same product.

Please help me to achieve the same. shared a screen shot for more clarity in the earlier response.

Thanks,

You are still using RRB to create the quote.  I see what you are trying to achieve, but I do not see a way to make the DIP profile do what you want.  Unless you make a different DIP profile for each panel/WBS.  You would need a new DIP for each panel.

The whole purpose of the DIP profile for creating a quote is to take a cost plan line item and determine a material that matches it.  That is what the DIP does.  Like I said earlier you need to find a way to separate out the plan line items.  If you plan labor on an activity element and you use the same activity type and you only have one DIP then the planned labor will match to the Labor Cost material specified on the DIP for all panels.  You would need 3 different labor cost materials for the 3 different panels, and to do that you will need 3 different DIP profiles.  If you have many different panels this is just not practical.

If you just want to show a cost breakdown you can use PS reporting to show it as long as you have a separate WBS per panel.

Hi,

There are few BADI in material determination config. Like i said before ,  changing network type from PS01 to PS02 will help , however only with some form of customization/BADI, this is posisble.

What you are trying to achieve is recomneded by SAP in Project system Training Manuals, but those systems comes ready with many additionals configs.

Hello Ken Melching,

Thanks for your response.

We are trying to create quotation for the inquiry based on a Project Unit costing.

If we want to use 2 or 3 finished products in the Unit costing for the project to be reflected in the quotation. How do we acheive this ?

Now we do not want the DIP to decide the Material - as the finished product change for every quote.

We are implementing quotation process as well for the projects.

What we have done till now is Configured DIP, and able to get the unit costing of the project in the quote (DP81) with items 1. Labour cost, 2. External Service cost 3. Raw Matl cost 4. Internal Service cost.

The issue we are have is DIP clubs all the three finished products and gives only the above four items.

we think it would be better if we show in the quotation finished product wise 1. Labour cost, 2. External Service cost 3. Raw Matl cost 4. Internal Service cost.

Please help me to achive the same. Attached a screen shot for more clarity

Thanks,

Try changing Network type from PS01 to PS02, if you are currently using PS01

It doesn't sound like you need Resource Related Billing.  What you are asking is contrary to what RRB does.  What you are asking is more related to product costing than RRB.

It sounds like you want to sell a Control Panel, an Auxiliary Panel, etc.  If you know what you want to sell you do not need RRB.  You use RRB when you want to bill (sell) based on what is used (actual cost charged) on a project.

If you want to capture the costs for each of these Panels you will need to structure the project accordingly.  Create a seperate WBS element for each panel.  These WBS elements can be assigned to the Sales Order line items.  Then your actual costs can flow to the right material being sold.

Resource Related Billing is used to create quotes and billing docs based on what was charged to a project.  The DIP profile is used to determine what materials will be put on the quote or billing document.  RRB takes the source data and divides it into the materials through the material determination settings.  What you are describing is what is supposed to happen.

What did you do when you "performed Unit costing for the Project WBS element with 3 finished Products"?  Finished products should not be attached to the project.  The DIP profile will determine the finished products.

You need to look for a way to separate out costs to the different materials.  For example, if you have 1 WBS and charge a bunch of labor to it on the same cost element how can the system decide what labor goes to your 3 different products?  It can't so you need 3 different WBS elements or 3 different cost elements or some other differentiator.
