Block Planning in SNP

Hi Gurus,

I am searching a ton of material for this specific scenario, but I could not found much lead. So, I am requesting your help on this topic.

We want to use block planning with SNP. More likely with SNP heuristics.

There are options available to download SNP blocks into PPDS block planning. But I am not sure how it gets created in SNP first of all.

We want to have a fixed set of blocks on a resource (based on a characteristic) and plan the orders of specific characteristic in the predefined blocks.

Please help with any sort of information you have.

Hi Abhay,

   The only functionality available with respect to block planning in SNP is the SNP opt can be used to propose blocks to PPDS using sequence dependent lot size, for your requirement I would request you to go thru the below thread, were using periodic lot size they have  tried to model kind of blocks. Hope  this gives you a lead.

How are you? Sorry for the late reply. how is life/SAP treating you. I know its been long.

I did a lot of search to fit in the idea of block planning in SNP scope, but I think it has limitations (like Optimizer is only tool which generated block proposals). We did not had any other planning engine in scope other than SNP Heuristics.

So the next realstic option was to use capacity reservations. However, we needed to have demand with characteristics, which is not feasible with our scenario.

So, for this we really have to look forward to PPDS.

Seems like, there is no block planning available with SNP heuristics. The only option in SNP we have is Optimizer, which proposes the blocks and can be downloaded to PP/DS.

You need to use PP/DS to use block planning functionality.

You can use SNP optimizer / CTM to do the same. The idea is to use a secondary resource.

We really can not go for campaign planning for this scenario.
