Hello,
We are trying to extract data from SAP using external tool & send it to external BW
The external extraction tool is started at anytime (is not periodic for now ) which in turn creates background jobs on SAP
We want these background jobs to run only on a particular application server dev1
1. Is this possible & how ?
2. Also we tried diff ways & were not successful but while doing so we entered few user details in OYEA tcode which we are trying to remove now .
And its not working. If we try to keep it blank as before, it just returns to what we had set.
Kindly please help.
Thanks
Shradha
Hi Shradha ,
You can try another one
If there is RFC which connects BW to informatica . Then in RFC use gateway server and port of dialog server only . it will come to Dialog server which you want .

Hi Manas,
Thanks for replying !!!
Actually we have set that config in RFC & when it first connects to SAP using this RFC it comes to the correct server but while creating background job it selects any app server from default background grp in sm61.
We have also contacted Informatica hopefully we get some helpful reply soon.
We are also hoping we don't have to modify the standard program for just pointing it to the correct app server.
Thanks

Hello
You need to configure Server Groups using Tx SM61

You can proceed as follows -
Create a job logon group by SM61.
Define Group during job definition creation.
Or Increase BWP on required server and decrease on other server which will increase chances to run job on required server.

Hi,
1. Is this possible & how ?
Have you tried to create a group in the in SMLG and assign that particular application server only to that group .
Now give the details of that group in the external extraction tool starts and see which application server does job go.
Thanks

Hello Rishi,
Yes we already tried creating SMLG group & also assigning that group to extraction tool, this was the RFC connection goes correctly to the serevr we want but it still uses any servers for the background job.
We noticed that after RFC connection SAP_DEFAULT group from sm61 is being used for creating background job. This SAP_DEFAULT group in sm61 has both servers assigned & we cannot change this group.
Thanks
Shradha
