Hi Gurus,
What are product categories in SRM and how different are they from material groups in MM.
Thanks,
Eswar
Hi Eswar
They are almost same.
In fact, Material group in MM is replicated to SRM as product categories.
Both are used to group materials or services.
Best regards
Ramki

Hi,
Some addnl info.
DNL_CUST_PROD1 is the customizing object responcible if you want to bring R3 matl groups as prod cat in EBP.
You can as well create local prod cat in SRM.
In SRM prod cat controls authorizations e.g. in responcibilty tab for a pur grp
you define prod cat to limit his buying acttivity for certain prod cat only.
you can even defind yr backend systems in yr technical basic settings.
Even prod cat can be base for decoupled scenario.
In COMM_HIERARCHY you can see local prod cat(created in EBP) under local class
and the replicated matl grps under R3MATCLASS.
