DISP+WORK stops after kernel update on NW2004 BI 3.5

Installed NW04 BI3.5 on windows2003, Oracle 9.2. SAP instance was up and running after installation but as soon as i did the kernel upgrade, disp+work shows being stopped in MMC. Here is the developer trace:

Hello,

You seem to be running a variety of versions of software components.

I believe that by upgrading to latest kernel versions, including latest sapmmc version, then upgrading support package level to the max, should solve most problems. Then, if you still get the yellow dispatcher problem, get back to us in the forum.

Sc.exe comes with Win32 SDK that i dont have as of now. Also i did find a few questions and responses on sdn forum regarding dispatcher being yellow in MMC.

I just wanted to do some BI stuff on the server and it seems like updates and everything is going to take too long. I have successfully installed BICONT and i guess i will be ok for now even if i dont bring my system up-to-date.

Is your error resolved. I had the same error. Can you give me the solution to bring back the dispatcher status to green from yellow.

Check also dev_w0 for possible errors. In dev_disp one can see that there is a network issue but this doesn't seem to be the problem.

Do you have DHCP activated on that server? The network issue seems to be the reason for the system not to come up. That IP is the "automatic IP" windows assigns to an interface if you activate DHCP and the system can´t find an DHCP server.

I suggest the following:

- reconfigure your network and give the system a valid IP

- add that IP to your hosts file

- restart the system

Additionally I would recommend updating to a recent kernel (you´re on patch 45 which is rather old, actual would be patchlevel 173).

Well the latest Kernel 6.40 32-bit (Windows server on IA32 32 BIT) updates i could see available on Marketplace for NW04 are sapexe_155-20000182.SAR and sapexedb_155-20000185.sar released date 09-11-2006. I unsared both and put files in exe\run folder again after bringing the system back into its original form (had mirrored copy). Now disp+work says "Running but dialog queue info unavailable". i can log on to the system though thru my client.

Also server and client are behind a DLink router on the same subnet and dhcp is enabled on the router. Thing is dispatcher was all ok and green before kernel updates and problem arises after the update. Network configuration is still all the same before and after the update. Nevertheless i updated the host file with the private ip adddress of my server as suggested.
