Integration of ECC systems with BI 4.0

One of the requirements that our client has is connecting of their existing ECC system with BI 4.0 which is first time ever they are going to use.

I need couple of questions to be put forward for giving them an over view of  it can be done if yes what is the procedure to be followed and what are the prerequisists.

Have gone through some SAP posts and found that Crystal Reports Enterpirse has a direct connectivity with BI 4.0 through a middle ware for ERP System. However this is only for BEX and also if ECC version is above 6.0.

However if ECC has CR 2010 and their ECC system is version </= 6.0 what is the procedure to be followed. Also if the underlying data source is other than BW. A brief info will also help.

Hi,

Crystal Reports Enterprise has direct connection to ECC 6.0 if you are on ECC 6.0 and Enhancement pack 5.

if you want to connect to ecc from crystal Reports 2011 you have to integrate ECC and BO 4.0

we have some integration procedure for it.

If your SAP system is running on a BASIS system earlier than 6.20 then ANSI transports file should be used. If your SAP system is running on a 6.20 BASIS system or later then Unicode Enabled transport files should be used.

Steps for Integration

Step 1: Place Transport files into following os directories of SAP ECC System

Place K files at “D:\usr\sap\trans\cofiles” and R files at “D:\usr\sap\trans\data”.

Step 2: Importing the transport Files

Step 3: Upload the User Roles i.e. CRYSTAL_ENTITLEMENT.SAP and CRYSTAL_DESIGNER.SAP in the ECC

Step 3.1: Create a user “CRYSTAL” in SAP ECC Menu and assign the roles as “CRYSTAL_ENTITLEMENT“ and “CRYSTAL_DESIGNER”.

Step 4: Configure sap authentication CMC

Step 5: Import Crystal Roles in CMC

Hope this helps you..

Regards,

Ambreen
