Hi All,

We are trying to do Non-unicode to unicode migration.

During the pre-steps, step Unicode Nametabs creation is taking more time.

Any possible ways to decrease runtime for Create Unicode Nametabs in SPUMG - Unicode Nametabs step during non unicode to unicode migration..

Hi Joie ,

What is your database flavour , we have seen improvement by increasing bufferpools in DB2 database.

Hi Joie,

I would recommend to execute nametab creation during the downtime. In theory it would be possible to do this during uptime (without any data dictionary changes), but e.g. due to some automatic generation of BW objects this can create problems.

Main area of downtime reduction should be the export/import process of the Unicode conversion.

Hi Joie,

          For a DB on oracle with size approx 500 GB will take 1hr to 1hr 30mins. It is nominal. W.r.t your DB size does it take more time, and if yes how much does it take.
