Hello Pratap, look at that post about my own experience on solution manager, i got something similar than you on Spain but work as a solution manager consultant since years ago:

http://scn.sap.com/community/about/blog/2013/08/31/three-single-steps-to-get-a-great-roi-with-snc--s...

some time ago i update on certification forum some information about learning maps and useful information :

http://scn.sap.com/community/training-and-education/certification/blog/2013/08/15/10-steps-for-train...

Last Week i have the opportunity to visit the Run SAP Global Summit on Waldorf, and there i share experience with a lot of International and Global Partnners about Solution Manager; around 4 days of event the around 70% of sessions are related to solution manager topics, service provider functions, var opportunity, etc...

I think that the opportunity on Solution Manager is now, there are a few people that know in deep what solman can do and how to do it but you have to think that SAP think about improve that solution and you have the guarantee than solman will not be abandoned by SAP as well as happens with other products.

Now Solution Manager are a success factor and a excellent tool for IT departments where SAP systems are an important part of they business and need a good tool for take care about the infrastructure; solman is also a key on some SAP certification process for partnner like RunSAP and recently on a scenario like Service Provider.

Check that linkdin group that i created to speak/know other sap solution manager interested on Solution Manager, and don't hesitate to ask any doubt or request help if you need.

Solman has low demand but that will change early, is a gamble to think

Yes Pratap,

Solution Manager has good opportunities, if you take any product in sap that has to be part of your System Landscape. Normally solman will be used as central sld, where it will be helpful to manage the other systems like monitoring, administration, EWA etc.. If you want to upgrade any product of your landscape you will be needing to use solution manager to create the stack file and calculate the necessary files to be downloaded. Apart from that go through this link which tell speaks about the features of solution manager and how it is useful for customer.

From what I can tell as a SolMan admin you can only go so far on your own, majority of the hot tools (BPCA/BPMon/ChaRM/etc) are all dependent upon your functional teams to have any real value come from them.
