CTS+ - Transport from PI 7.1 system to PI 7.31 System

Dear Experts,

We are in a process to upgrade our existing PI 7.1 system to PI 7.3.1 (Dual Stack) system. We have decided to install PI 7.31 fresh and then transport the existing scenarios.

Kindly suggest what specific configuration has to be done to CTS+ setting so that old scenarios (from PI 7.1) can be transported to new PI 7.31 system.

Also please comment on our strategy to upgrade from PI 7.1 to PI 7.31

Hi,

which transport are you using in the pi 7.1?

you can go for file transport initially to migrate interfaces from 7.1 to 7.31.

once all the systems are upgraded to 7.31 then you can configure CTS+ and and use it.

if you are configuring cts+ now then you have to maintain transport paths old system to new. then later you have to remove. it is bit of extra work.

Thanks for your response. We are using CTS+ in PI 7.1 as well. Can't we move transports from PI7.1 to PI7.31 system without configuring transport routes like we do in STMS (ABAP) by adding external transport requests and importing them.

what is your planning for migration?

consider below two ways mentioned in the below link.

First one

1.PI7.1 Development --->PI7.3 Development
2.PI7.1 Quality to PI7.3 Quality
3.PI7.1 Production to PI7.3 Production
Second one
Or simply transport it from PI7.1 Development to PI7.3 Development and from PI7.3 Development to PI7.3 Quality and from there to PI7.3 Production.

if you are choosing second one you can use CTS+ as it will take less effort for creating transport routes.

For First one you have to create transport routes for all three systems.

sometimes we transport Prod 7.11 objects to DEV 7.31 also. this is another method.

now your systems routes will be like this(let us assume).

7.1 systems.

DEV-->QA-->Prod

now the DEV 7.31 new system has to be made target of Dev(7.11). then only you can transport. then you will transport object to other respective systems.

like DEV 7.31 to QA 7.31 to Prod 7.31.

without creating routes i am not sure if this is possible. check with basis team on this.
