The work process has hanged. after the restart the work process in SM50, WP status has been changed to stopped.

Unable to start the Work process. after rebooting the SAP SERVER,this issue will be reslolved.

Please let us know how to resolve this issue.

SAP 80GB

SQL Servder 35GB

SWAP 20GB.

SAP is trying to initialize PXA. It size is determined by abap/buffersize parameter which in your case is 5,600000KB (Is it correct? Monitor abap buffer utilization with ST02). On windows this region is created by CreateFileMapping API call and backed by the system paging file which size currently 20GB. The simplest solution is to increase paging file size. But from performance point of view you should avoid large paging utilization. More sophisticated solution is to adjust memory related parameters for SAP System and SQL Server to avoid excessive paging utilization. But in any way you need to configure some paging space as some API calls required it to be executed successfully.

The problem here is page file size.

A restart of the system will only fix this issue temporarily.

You need to increase the page file size to the size  (at least) of the main memory.

Be aware that on Windows paging is always used so having a good main memory will not help you.

Is it ok to add the swap memory 3 * 120 = 360GB.

Yes you can add the  swap memory, Define the memory parameters as mention in the SAP Note 88416 - Zero administration memory management

Hi Thiru,

Having PHy memory of 120GB is good enough. So your current swap configuration is not a problem.

The problem in your system is shared memory configuration.

Follow the steps suggested by me earlier.

I already told you that you need to reconfigure your page file.

What Deepak told you is wrong.

You already have 100 work processes and you have 20 GB for page file.

Hi Thiru,

From the logs its very clear that the issue is with shared memory segments.

Please open the command prompt and execute

sappfpar -check pf=<path of instance profile>

Correct the values for ipc/segments as suggested and re-run the above command until there are no errors.

Alternative:

As it is windows, a system reboot and clean all the shared memory segments.
