Seeburger FTP adapter

Hi,

We have the following scenario. We want to get EDI 861 via ftp from our partner to PI to our R3. The challenge we are facing is getting started with seeburger adapters. We looked into seeburger ftp/van adapter. We are not using VAN. Is it possible to configure this adapter in sender communication channel for our scenario? We tried it, but we are stuck at choosing the message protocol, because we get only the VAN supported message protocols from the drop down menu. Our goal is to get the EDI 861 from our partner via ftp, parse it to XML representation, map the xml to equvalent IDOC and send it to our R3. Can we use the seeburger adapter that receives the edi and parses it into? If yes, how do we go about to solve this issue. We know that we can use the normal FTP adapre of SAP along with the BIC module but the client wants to use the Seeburger FTP adapter instead.

Thanks and Regards

Hi,

Seeburger provides 2 different FTP-Adapters

- VAN-FTP-Adapter

(that is the one you described, which includes predefined-connections for the major VANs)

- Host-FTP-Adapter

(this one allows to connect to different FTP-sites, eg. Standard FTP, EDI Switch, HP UX...and others and apparently this is the one that you are trying to use)

This one is similar to the FTP-Adapter from SAP, however it was often used by customers who had to work with Proxies which was not supproted by the SAP FTP-Adapter for a long time.

Can you verify that this adapter is available on your system ?

Of course there is also the 3rd option of using the SFTP-Adapter, which Dimitri mentioned.

In general, all adapters work perfectly fine together with the Classifier/Bic/Splitter-Modules.

Kind Regards

Stefan

Hi,

First of all, you can't use the Seeburger VAN FTP adapter to connect to a normal FTP server. So as Stefan mentioned, check if you have the Host FTP adapter provided by Seeburger in your system.

Hi,

You can use the Seeburger SFTP adapter with BIC, Classifer, Spilt, ... modules within it. That shouldn't be any problem.

Kind regards,

Dimitri
