CCMSPING: Monitoring pause

Former Member

Hello!

We are using CCMS based monitoring functions within Solution Manager 7.1

We established ccmsping based system availability.

For some systems that are not available (planned downtime) we created an appropriate monitoring pause via

RZ21 --> Technical Infrastructure --> Availability Monitoring -->Configure CCMSPING Availability Mon.

Now we would like to except that

  • no availability alerts will be shown within RZ20
  • the status of system within SOLMAN_WORKCENTER --> System Monitoring will be changed from "not available/red" to at least "no data/grey"

Unfortunately it is not the case.

Can some one help here?

Hi,

1. Please check whether ccms ping is correctly installed/running in your Solman 7.1

2. Check and maintain the entries in hosts and services file of the managing systems.

3. Check the RFC dest from solman to managing systems.

4. Check whether saposcol is running or not.

Hello!

Sure, everythink was set fine.

So we would like to achieve that for some systems that are not available and will be monitored via CCMSPING  no availability alerts will be shown within RZ20 and solman_workcenter --> system monitoring --> system status.

You are working with two different monitoring systems, while the new style does pull metrics from CCMS; there is no method to hold CCMS alerts (via rz20) and keep the system from going red under system monitoring in the work center.

Personal opinion start focusing on setting up the new way of monitoring, CCMS is at the end of its life cycle management.

Have you looked into Down Time Management (DTM) as it will also suppress CCMS and should also have the desired effect in system monitoring.

Older document for 7.01, but should still apply.
