Please Provide Information on SAP SRM-MDM catalog

Hello guys,

i am working as SRM Technical consultant ( ABAP and Webdynpro ABAP ), now i ma planning to learn SRM-MDM CALATLOG,  can any one please let me know from where should i start , shall i start from SAP MDM , can any one please give me some links  to learn SAP MDM,

Hello Vijaya

SRM- MDM Catalog starts with SAP NW MDM, the following points explain the overall flow to have a Catalog Display.

• MDM Catalog Repository has to be created(Either you can go ahead and create it from scratch(Not Recommended) or else get a standard content available form SAP.
• The Next step is to Push the Catalog data into Data Manager where you need to know how exactly the Import manager works.
• Later once the data available in Data manger need to perform some activities in Data Manger such as Validation, Assignments etc as per Business requirement.
• Now its SRM turn, where you need to create some Webservices to call the catalog Repository which you have created.
• Next we have Webservices UI where you need to define the OCI mapping (Open catalog Interface), which mainly maps your catalog Repository fields against the standard SRM fields.

Also SRM team has to perform the setting up of Organizational Structure for the business.

Later the Catalog will appear in the Portal.

***Condition Apply- Kindly please learn basics about SAP MDM before you proceed, you will get many documents for the same on SCN.

Hope it gave a basic idea on SRM –MDM Catalog.

Hello Vijaya,

looks like nobody said that you do not have to start with SAP MDM (actually you should not) - SAP MDM is a robust master data management solution while SRM-MDM uses just a small piece of its functionality to mange catalogues for SRM. The best starting point is http://help.sap.com/srm-mdm
