IM and WM transaction in different period

can I do MM - GR in period 6 and do WM putaway on another period like 7,8 ?

is system allowed?

Where is a period in WM?

Periods have usually something to do with accounting, WM has nothing to do with values, just managing quantities.

if you receive a material in June and you have it in your receiving area  for weeks until the final quality analysis is done, Then this is just a fact and no problem for your WM system.

you either have an open TR or already an open TO, this is visible in SAP and manageable.

Yes, you could make changes to WM in any period. Movements within WM does not depend on posting periods.

Yes the system will allow you to do WM putaway,but there will be discrepancy in stock in IM & WM.There is the possible of material being issued from IM & if it is consumed in  IM without being received in WM it will reflect in negative in WM

Dear Friend

                 If quant is not expire means you can do any time do WM Transaction...for example if you PO,GRN and you did return the stock to supplier..for this case you are not do the WM transaction.This may be not allow to do WM transaction...
