Connection to SLD

Former Member

Hi Guys:

The SLD server is running but when I go to the Content Administration --> Web Dynpro, I see the following message:

"Connection to System Landscape Directory (SLD) could not be opended successfully."

Only the "Check SLD Connection" is enabled. When I click on that, the URL is http://:-1/sld; Port is -1. When I go to http://hostname:portname/sld, I see the Status as Running in the Administration tab.

I am running EP6 SP9. I read through the Q&A in the forum but am not able to resolve the problem. Can you please tell me what is wrong?

Thanks

Sriram

Hi

I followed the instructions by Nick given @

I went to http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/de/89023c59698908e10000000a11402f/frameset.htm

and I find the following information:

Prerequisites

Since the SAP Web dispatcher connects itself to the SAP message server and communicates with it via HTTP, the following parameters must be set correctly in the SAP Web dispatcher profile.

· rdisp/mshost: Host name of the machine on which the message server is running

· ms/http_port: The port on which the message server receives HTTP requests

For the message server, this port must be configured as an HTTP port, by setting parameter ms/server_port_ in the message server profile (see Message Server Parameters).

How can I check if the rdisp/mshost and ms/http_port parameters are correct or not? I have a Java-only installation of the Web AS

Please help.

Hi,

If you want to check if the port of the message server has been given correctly do the following.

first check if the message server information is available at

http://<server>:port/msgserver/text/logon

Then open the web dispatcher monitor.

http://<server>:port/admin/default.html

This port no is the one specified as the http port in the webdispatcher profile.

In the monitor if you can see the message server information if you have correctly specified the port no and the various parameters.

Do send in your feedback

Shyam: Thanks very much for your response.

I went into http://<server>:8101/msgserver and could see the message server information.

I tried http://<server>:8101/admin/default.html and http://<server>:50000/admin/default.html but was not successful.

Where can I find the webdispatcher profile?

Thanks

Shyam:

When I am in Content Administration -> Web Dynpro and click on Check SLD connection the popup window shows the following:

Check Connection to the System Landscape Factory (SLD)

-

The following System Landscape Directory (SLD) is used:

Host Name

Port -1

User

URL http://:-1/sld

Is it because the webdispatcher profile is not set correctly?

Thanks

This had nothing to do with the webdispacher. From what I have found (having the same problem) you need to setup the SLD data Supplier

Start the Visual Administrator

Select Server 0 #### -> Service -> SLD Data Supplier

Here you should see the http://:-1/sld

Click on HTTP settings tab on the bottom and fill it out. Then go back to the Information tab and click Trigger SLD Data transfer. From there I get a new error (HTTP 500) and it tells me to check the SLD system and the SLD bridge

Ooops, I also needed to setup the SLD bridge to local mode and start it. After that it seems to work.

Hi Stephen:

I saw your message after I messed up my nameserver which in turn did not start my J2EE server. This led me to reinstall the EP. This time around I configured the sld during installation and so everything is working fine.

However, to your credit if I had seen your message earlier and followed your suggestion, my problem would have resolved.

Thanks
