Hi Tripti,

This message comes when you create time slice for master data; but only if record is same before and after the cutoff date of new time slice.

For example:

Take an active business partner. Open FPP2 / BP transaction for this BP.

You can see Validity period below BP number and it’s Role (generally 01/01/0001 - 12/31/9999).

Click on "Create Validity period" button next to time period. It will ask for new time slice starting from today's date to 12/31/9999. Click ok. (Say 09/02/2013 to 12/31/9999)

Again click on "Create Validity period". It will ask for new time slice starting from today's date to 12/31/9999. Change from date as some date of future (Let's say date of 5 days from today - 09/07/2013 - 12/31/9999). Click ok. It will ask you to save data first because earlier change operation is not saved. Click on yes.

Now you will get message that

"Validity periods can be merged due to identical
data.

Do you want to transfer this change?"

Reason:

This is because BP's data is identical for both below time slices. So system will ask you to merge this time slice.

09/02/2013 - 09/06/2013

09/07/2013 - 12/31/9999

We create time slice to maintain different state of data. If data is same for two consecutive time periods then there is no meaning to maintain two validity periods.

Hope this will help.

Thanks,

Thanks Murtuza for the detail reply... And it is very helpful also.

From this I understand when we create new validity period, then we get this message, but while doing move-in, how we will get this message? Actually I need to recreate the same scenario with message while move in but not able to do so. Appreciate your help.
