Dear all,

I installed a new 7.1 solman SP04 on a windows 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition 64bit with MS SQL 2008 R2.

After running the solman_setup on the System Preparation screen after I click NEXT it just hangs, stop responding, nothing happen, what could be the problem?

Check the screenshot for more details.

Hi

From your screenshot it looks like your not in a edit mode. Can you click on edit mode and then click next

it will bring one more window asking for username and password.

also perform the below. if you still see issue

  1. In SE38, execute the report WDG_MAINTAIN_UR_MIMES. Under "Menu:, double-click "Delpoy MIMES". Then when that has finished, double-click "Force MIME deployment".

2.In SMICM, choose the "Goto --> HTTP Plugin --> Server Cache --> Invalidate Globally. Click "Yes".

   3. Delete Temporary Internet Files out of Internet Explorer: Tools--> Internet Options --> (General Tab, Browsing History section) Delete.

Thanks

Hi Nelson,

Are there any errors in ST22/SM21?

Did you check note 1869765 - Short dump is generated when navigating in transaction solman_setup with error ' Syntax error in program "/1BCWDY/0O2THKH93AYD8VKO1RDM==CP " ' ?

Hi Nelson,

This means that the sap application is running properly.

The issue is with the server settings.

Have you maintained the correct settings in the hosts and services file?

Also, from your PC,is the page for system preparation in solman_setup coming?

Himanshu

Hi Humanshu,

Thank you for the input, but the page still not showing up on my PC and on the server. On my PC the solman_workcenter show this:

Service cannot be reached

What has happened?

URL call was terminated because the corresponding service is not
available.

Note
The termination occurred in system
with error code 403 and for the reason Forbidden.

What can I do?

Please select a valid URL.

HTTP 403 - Forbidden

One more time:

Have you maintained the Solution Manager host name FQDN in the hosts file ?

When you call solman_workcenter can you check the work process and icm trace files (dev_w* and dev_icm) in the work directory ?

Additionally what is the host name and system number of the solution manager system ?

Folks,

Now I can see the page but just in one server and the preparation still hanging.

Look I'm trying this on 3 different machines now and 3 different web-browsers.

1. My PC

a) Opera

b) IE 10 (windows 😎

2. Solman server (SAP1)

a) IE9

b) Opera

c) Chrome

3. Old SAP Server

a) IE 9

b) Opera

The same results for my PC.

So it looks like there are 2 problems, on is the browser settings and another is the preparation phase hanging.

Because I can proceed with the display on the old_server I would like to solve the hanging problem and after that I´ll fight for the access problem

so guys let´s focus on the hanging problem.

Hello

Go to /usr/sap/SID/DVEBMGS00/work

Check the latest work process trace files.

You will need to check the dev_server0 and std_server files are well.

Also check whether the below service is activated in solman or not:-

Go to SICF->services->sap->bc->webdynpro->sap->wd_sise_main_app.

Hi Nelson,

It can be seen from the screenshot that the system preparation substeps are not visible like it should be as below:-

Please reply if this is the case.

This can also be seen using solman_workcenter Tcode--->solman configuration->system preparation.

Waiting for your reply.

As you have installed the flash,Could you just give it a try by restarting the server and then using solman_setup.

Possibly out of scope of your question, but why are you setting up SolMan with SP04 instead of just updating to SP08 and then running through the setup?

Hi,

That was what I had, but now according with your post I'm downloading the referred SP and will upgrade and try again.

thank you for the hint.

Not a problem, just keep in mind that while ST08 is the ABAP side you still have a Java side that will need to also be updated.  I think most Java SPs are at the 13 SP level.

Hi,

But my system is not JAVA and not abap.

Do I still need these updates in order to run the solman_setup?

Solution Manager is a dual stack system it has an ABAP & Java configuration.  I'm not saying that an upgrade will be the fix, imo its less work to configure software/servers after performing updates.

Think of it this way, do you perform Windows Updates before SAP is installed?

Hi Nelson,

Do the adobe flash update in your system.

Logout and log in and try solman_setup.

Hope it helps.

Another think try to run solution manager from your pc if the ports are open and run solman_setup on pc rather than on server.

Hi,

Sorry but I didn´t find the solution on the both notes, the 1594497, just explanation. The note 1514652 its tips are considering that my IE displays something.

Maybe I didn´t understood very well but my problem is explained above.

I know that my initial problem was not this but after I got the solution for this my IE stopped responding.

Thank you,

But now it´s showing me blank page on IE. Another thing is that I can´t update the java because of the browser limitations, the option there is disable and I can´t update.

I took the approach of disable the roadmap (AGSSISE_DISABLE_NEW_ROADMAP) and now I need to fix the first problem of showing the page.
