Hi Experts,
What SAP ERP licensing changes will be applicable if we install multiple production servers under same installation number.
For example:-
Current scenario:-
Hardware1 -> SAP-PRD1 -> 100 Dialog Users (for companycode1, companycode2)
Expected To-Be Scenario:-
Hardware1 -> SAP-PRD1 -> 50 Dialog Users (companycode1)
Hardware2 -> SAP-PRD2 -> 50 Dialog Users (companycode2)
Does SAP charges more cost for running multiple parallel production servers under same installation?
Do we have to discuss & change EULA with SAP for using expected To-Be Scenario ?
Kindly comment according to product SAP ECC6.0 on NW7.0x or higher.

Hi Surjit,
For that case, consolidation of all Licenses is done across all the PRD Systems in somewhat below way:
1) You decide the consolidation Key i.e. SAP User ID, First//Last Name etc.
2) You consolidate the users accross the PRD Systems
3) You consolidate the Licenses i.e. If in one PRD system suppose your user is type professional and in another system your user is Limited Professional so that User will be treated once only with the Highest usage of SAP License in any of the PRD system
4) You get the consolidated license report thus providing you one view of how many licenses are uniquely consumed in your entire SAP Landscape.

Hi Akshay,
Your quick response is appreciable !
Got your point about User Consolidation.
What about distributing single installation from hardwarekey1 to multiple separate installations (i.e. hardwarekey1 & hardwarekey2).
Do SAP has some separate licensing policy for this or it will be covered under same License policy as for existing single PRD on hardwarekey1 only ?

Hi Surjit,
Following on Atul's reply, the Installation number is unique across your Landscape i.e. For your R/3 Landscape you must have one Installation number, another from BW, another for SCM and so on.
As you will distribute the current PRD system (SID1) to two PRD systems (SID1, SID2) and both will be still under R/3 Landscape, so there should not be any change in current licensing approach.
1) Moreover, your total number of named users are still same. So no change in the figure.
2) You are going to still use the R/3 (for example) product licenses, you are not going for any new SAP Solution let's say HANA, so you don't have to revise the license procurement.
Let me know what you think?

Hi Akshay,
Thanks for providing a clearer insight.
Say if we have Product License of SAP ECC & 100 named users, then can we go with following approach:-
Under Single Installation Number
PRD1 -> Hardwarekey1 -> 50 Named Users -> SAP ECC6 Ehp4 on NW7.01
PRD2 -> Hardwarekey2 -> 50 Named Users -> SAP ECC6 Ehp7 on NW7.3
Please note about using different versions of same product type on separate physical boxes (servers).
Here we will install SAP Application & DB s/w on separate physical machines.
In this case do we have to revise any license with SAP ?

Hi Surjit,
You can run only one PRD system under one sap license.
