Hi All, Im wondering if anyone could share their experiences. Im working in a project trying to implement/exploring the option of using location/network heuristics. The approach im taking now is using the planning file and then based on low level codes run heuristics and execute batch jobs. Is there any better approach which you can share?
Thanks everyone for your replies. Yes Network Heuristic is complex when we dont have accurate Master Data. So we are going for multi location heuristics and planning for all low level codes except for MU's as we don't want to interfere in that.

It would be great if you first run the LLC Code generation background job and based on the same ,just run Location Heuristics if you want to run for componenents assigned specific to locations

The purpose of both the heuristics is same.
For Location Heuristics in Network if u have More Different Type of Location like Vendor Customer DC Plant Sub DC for your new Project Location Heuristics is Suitable.
Network Heuristics takes long time and it has to Process all the Location From Vendor to Customer at a Time,
Where as in Location Heuristiics we can one by one Level like First Customer then at DC then at Plant then Finally at Vendor
I Prefer Better take Location Heuristics

Hello Krish,
First off, you must understand why one would use a Location Heuristic. This heuristic is useful if you would like to have control over which plants are planned during the heuristic execution. For instance, if you have a situation where Product A is planned at plants P1 and P2, which is in turn supplied by P3, a location Heuristic would have to be executed at each of the plants in order (P1 and P2 first and then P3). You could define a Location Heursitic schedule to run for the plants at say, different times, and then finally execute a Location Heuristic at P3 once all the demand is available. In comparison, a network Heuristic for Product A would plan at all three locations, in order, without really giving you an option to exclude a plant.
I hope this helps.
Thanks and Regards,
Sharath

Hi Krish Lak,
The purpose of both the heuristics is same to propagate the net requirement from Downstream to Upstream Location
You can use the Network Heuristics if you dont want to maintain to many jobs/Nodes in process chain. The only disadvantage is since the system has to search for the network based on the LLC and Tlanes and PPMs it takes lot of time for Network Heuristics.
Hope this is useful
