EHP6 Upgrade Using SUM

Hi there,

I have just recently started the EHP6 upgrade off via SUM on our sandpit system The SUM screen is

displaying

Progress:  'Waiting for completion of the dialog'

Status:       WAITING

I have had the same screen displaying the same message since last Friday and doesn't appear to

getting any further on. The connection breaks after about 10 mins or so and every time I reconnect the

same screen is being displayed.

I can’t seem to find any logs that make sense of what progress has been made or if indeed there are

some problems that the EHP has come across.

Would you know where I can see the errors if any?

Hello

Progress:  'Waiting for completion of the dialog'

Status:       WAITING

This is where the tool is expecting you to interact with it.

Probably click the "Next" button.

If that is disabled or not active I would switch the user role from Administrator to Observer.

I know this is silly and shouldn't work like that but I have faced this numerous times.

Killing the SUM processes and restarting it is also another good option.

It was waiting for me to do something, but rather misguiding I think.

Just a quick question RB.

Can you just confirm where I can find the errors that SUM is reporting on. I did

click within the GUI somewhere to display the error but I have since exited the

GUI now.

There must be a file some where with the error in under /SUM ?????

Not me again!!

I have managed to find the error int the Trouble Ticket:

      This trouble ticket was created by SAPup on 20130823112917

-------------------------------------------------------------

SAPup broke during phase SPAMCHK_INI in module PREP_PRE_CHECK / Checks the system status

Error Message: The import of the SPAM update has aborted at SPAM phase PROLOGUE. (Error: 'The import of the queue is scheduled as a background job (Start: 00.00.0000 , 0')

Repeat the phase to finish the import of the SPAM update. Otherwise logon to the ABAP system and finish the import via transaction SPAM

I have just restarted SUM but there is no option to restart at a particular phase. The 'NEXT' buttons

are both greyed out on the ABAP and MONITOR tabs.

Help anyone??

You should check log files in <upgrade directory>/SUM/abap/log.

Hi Andy,

Could you please let us know which SUM versio you are using ,is it latest?
Also at which os level you are running ,using which user?

Hi there,

Thanks for the quick responses.

I have killed all the SUM processes on the sandpit server.

I then restrted the SUM i.e. ./STARTUP

But this time I have opened up an IE session oustide the VNC server instead

of inside it.

It seems to be more stable now and the status has now changed to 'RUNNING' plus

I can also click on Update=> Process Overview at the top of the menu.

Hello,

It looks like session is hung because of some old process. Could you please close this process and start again ? Make sure that all the processes related to SUM should be closed before starting again.
