User master export with selected users

Hi Team,

We would like export the user master data from DEV to TST but here the case is, there are some users on TST used for different configurations.

So we don't want overwrite them.

In general, we can export entire user master and import them on target, but i would like to know is there any way to export selected users instead of all on source system and can import only those selected users on target.

Please help me...

Thanks & Regards,

Suresh Babu

Hi Suresh,

There could be an option but it would require some manual efforts.

1.Create a new client in TST.

2.Export user master data from DEV to this new client in TST.

3.Delete the unwanted user master data from this new  client in TST.

4.Export the user master from this new client in TST and import it into the original client in TST.

5.Delete the new client from TST

Advantage : SAP standard procedures followed.

Disadvantage : Higher effort and time.

It all boils down to how desperately you need to achieve this.

Hi Suresh,

Technically, I think, this can be done. However, it requires selecting correct tables and taking export from OS level for these tables using R3trans using script which includes only those users that you want in your target system.

Jaun, Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hi,

In case you want to copy the contents from single table you may use R3trans to perform an export of the table entries based on the where claus.

But here we need to have contents from multiple tables lile USR02, USR04, UST04 etc so that user master records are consistent.

Technically it is not possible to perform selective user master export.

Hope this helps.

There are certainly ways to do it, but non of them using standard transactions and or as part of a regular procedure.

Not possible, you either copy all the user master data or none.
