How can I change the name of the schema owner from SAP<old_sid> to SAP<new_sid>?
Hi William,
this is not possible on Oracle databases. You have to do a system copy with SAPinst for example.
If you like to run a instance with a different name, you can change the dbs_ora_schema environment variable to SAP<old_sid> on the new system to use the old schema.

Hi Ralph,
what's about an Oracle based Export/Import using transportable tablespaces?
At least in theory this should be possible and create the least time impact.
By the way:
because many administrators where confused by <SID> in the schema name they desided to replace <SID> by a so called Schema ID (default value SR3) which is per default different from the <SID>.

Peter
