Data Transfer - Import Master Data

Former Member

Hi All,

I am trying to import a MATMAS05 xml into MDG, I have created the directory (using FILE) and copied the xml to the directory.

I then configured the transfer directory in MDGIMG. When I click SHOW DIRECTORY CONTECT nothing happens and when I

click simulate import I get the error No File selected for import.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Regards

Rafiq

Hi Ramalakshmi,

Did you maintain the Logical directory settings in the FILE transaction?

Hi Ramalakshmi,

There are 3 settings to maintain in the FILE transaction -

1. Logical File Path Definition

2.  Assignment of Physical Paths to Logical Path

3. Logical File Name Definition, Cross-Client

I hope you have done all. Next, what master data are you attempting to import? Is it a MATMAS idoc?

You would also need to check the Configurations under 'Define Object Types for Data Transfer', and 'Define File Source and Archive Directories for Data Transfer'.

If all these configurations are in place, then your files should be picked up for import.

Best Regards,

Akshay

Hi, it usually doesn't do to have multiple topics in one threat.

That said, http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-47519 describes how to use the Data Import Framework to upload material data from a CSV-file using a BAdI for the file conversion.

Thanks Shankar, I will do this. Do I then just copy the MATMAS05.XML file to the directory using CG3Z?

Hi Shankar, delete the physical file from Logical Filename Definition, Cross-Client (T-Code FILE). Just leave it blank then try reading the file in.
