Hi Bharath,  Please refer to this document for understanding of the data flow -  http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/707f9321-50ed-2c10-ea85-cd7f1eb8f...  Thanks, Ravi

Hi Bharath,

SAP GDS will not import records through MDIS, likewise the syndication will not happen via MDSS.

The complete import and export of the files happen via Java Proxy in GDS. There requires a GDS specific adapter installation in PI (AS2 is one such example) which facilitates the data flow from and out of GDS. Please see that the XSD structure will come as a part of standard structure in case of GDS for mapping in PI.

Hence the mapping have to be done in PI. There is a specific mapping technique that you have to follow for this. GDS/MDM folks have to provide the mapping details to the PI team according the tables and fields that are being used. This can be understood from the standard structure.

Hi Bharath,

The input to SAP GDS can only be from SAP MDM or SAP ECC. If the source system is ECC ALEs will be processed from there and records will reach PI. In case of MDM the XML will be sent and it will reach PI. In both the cases as soon as the records reach PI, PI converts the file to XML format (GDS can accept only XML files) and triggers the proxy with the help of the adapter (AS2 is an example).

The mapping of source and destination have to be done prior to proxy triggering. In GDS the mapping happens in the standard XML structure unlike MDM. You will have to provide the reference path for each and every field that you use in the standard structure. For example the standard structure may contain 1000 fields according GDS in, but the actual requirement in the project will be just 200 fields.

Sometimes there will be possibilities that you have create your own tables/fields in GDS. In such cases along with the standard structure you have to add those tables/fields that is being added in GDS.

Hope this clarifies. Reach us for further info.
