I saw this problem in my system once because of a problem in FQDN (Fully qualified domain name) for the system. Obviously it is a basis issue and you need to bring them in loop.

Is it happening for a specific interface or occuring for all the interfaces? If it occurs for all the interfaces then You might want to check whether post installation steps are properly done for the adapter engine. As you know null pointer exception occurs if the parameter value is missing in configuration or so. If it occurs for a specific adapter based interface such as http , please elaborate more details ...
