Hi,

Try it by directly uncaring the Kernel file in host directory (exe directory)..

Hi Ish,

Can you try again downloading the kernel from SMP and do the upgradation. The issue might be with corrupted files.

Thanks

Hi Ish,

This issue mostly happens during kernel upgrade on windows O.S

Check the below note

Note 1375494 - SAP system does not start after applying SAP kernel patch

Do the following

After stopping the system

<disk>:\usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\exe\uc\sapcpe.exe pf=<Start Profile>

<disk>:\usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\exe\uc\sapcpe.exe pf=<Instance Profile>

If issue still persists download again the kernel because, apparently, some files might be corrupted. Also manually unzip the sapcryptolib files and put them on the corresponding folder. And restart the system.

Hopefully this will help

Thanks

Vaibhav

Hello

Did you read this SAP note ?

Note 1636252 - Installing a 7.20 kernel in SAP Web AS 7.00/7.01/7.10/7.11

It is clearly documented the steps to be done during the kernel upgrade

Hi Ish,

You have mentioned

   I am doing the EHP6 migration from EHP4 i a test server

How you are migrating  from EHP4 to EHP6? Using SUM??

Are you changing kernel manually? Ideally this should be taken care by SUM tool during upgrade.

As EHP6 for SAP ERP 6.0 runs of NW 731 so as per my knowledge you have to use 720_EXT/721_EXT kernel. EXT version of kernel requires minimum Win 2008/ Win 2008 R2 as it is build with same codelines as normal 720_REL/721_REL but requires new compiler.

Please check the prerequisites before changing kernel.

Dear SG,

Manually am changing the Kernel,My windows version is 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008,I tried with 720 kernel without EXT and with EXT, But still same error, so i downgraded the kernel. Before my kernel version was 701/32 and now its 710/270.

Hello

But while upgrading the kernel the kernel the sapcpe.exe is showing red.

So that means sapcpe was unable to copy the files from the DIR_CT_RUN to the DIR_EXECUTABLE location.

Have you checked the sapcpe.log file ?

Are you doing the kernel upgrade manually before starting the upgrade ?

If you are doing a kernel upgrade then delete all the old kernel files before putting the new files.

Read this SAP note

Because the issue is while upgrading the kernel, I'm assuming the issue is that the kernel selected probably 7XX_EXT is not running because it was compiled with a newer Visual Studio

Whats your windows version?.. Whats your target kernel?

Check Note 684106 - Microsoft runtime DLLs

Also, you may want to check your Event Viewer for errors

Hi Philip,

Have you checked whether /usr/sap/SID/DVEB*/exe folder exists ??

If not please create it and manually copy the kernel files into this folder.

Additionally check in start profile whether there is a step for sapcpe ?

Hope this helps.
