Memory parameters settings

Hi,

     I have 8gb of ram where CI and DB are installed on the same server.

I would like to allocate 70/30% memory to CI and DB.

Which parameters need to change do this?  As I know that PHYS_MEMSIZ is used to set the memory for sap CI and which parameter is used for DB?

I would like to just assign 5 GB ram  PHYS_MEMSIZ parameter then it is allocated to SAP and remaining memory it will assign automatically DB.

Ca i proceed with that?

"remaining memory it will assign automatically DB" of course NOT automatically (unless you are in the middle of the sap installation )

Last but not least, I would leave 1GB of free mem...

Where my installation is already  completed, Before  I have 5 Gb ram allocated, now we increase ram size to 8 Gb. 

Now i allocated  PHYS_MEMSIZ to 5 Gb.  Is it ok now ? or need to change any parameters to DB also to make effect ?

Now I get it!

if you gave 70% of mem to sap in the original installation, probably you can now increase to 5gb

...But if I would be you, I would check how much mem is taken by db with following guide

Here Ram size of the system is 4 gb..

From above analysis, total memory is 4  GB and DB is using maximum 3  GB?

Overall Just I like to know , how the memory sizing is distributed, Here PHYS_MEMSIZE is  3072 allocated by me.

Hi

taken from sap:

For a central instance with 1 GB main memory, the database uses

400 MB and the application server 600 MB. The value for PHYS_MEMSIZE

should therefore be set manually to 600

In your case , you know that max3GB is for the db and therefore PHYS_MEMSIZE should be 5GB

I believe this is best answer i can give you
