SAPJVM 4.1 upgrade

Hello, I have solman 7.1  SP08  on hpux box . it has SAPJVM4.1   patch 16 and I want to upgrade to latest patch 33, I downloaded and unpacked it .  Oss notes say to use SUM to update  , So I have  latest version  of SUM .  When I run  SUM and get to the part where it wants either a stack configuration file n XML file or a manually prepared directory.  I select the manual  directory ,but what file (or directory ) do I point it to from the sapjvm 33 patch I  expanded?  Everyone I try gives me an error.

turns out is was a permissions problem,  downloaded the SAR file version 34 to our  install directory

/sapcds/SM71-A11-Installation/SAPJVM4_34

and change permissins to the  SAR file    SAPJVM4_34-10009693.SAR  to 775 and it can now  read it.

Hi Kenneth,

I am stuck in the same situation, trying to update some Basis and Abap packages from SUM (latest version) and copy the .SAR file in EPS/in and try to upload the same in SUM, and getting the same error: Incorrect input; provide the correct path to the directory.

Also tried giving full permissions to SAR file.

You choose Stack configuration file option or Manually prepared directory?

Please advice.

try putting the sar file in a seperate directory all by itself

like  in my example  the  kb74808.SAR  file would be in

/sapcds/SM71-A11-Installation/SAPJVM4_34

enter  the  directory only  when you  enter the path when you select the manual option

what  is in  kb74008.sar    ?   what type system are you updating?  looks like SUM  thinks this an abap only system .

Dear Kenneth,

To apply the latest patch of SAP JVM 4.1, take a loo at the following relevant notes:

1884813 - SAP JVM 4.1 Patch Collection 33 (build 4.1.033)

1133020 - How to import a SAP JVM patch into an AS Java

1442124 - How to download a SAP JVM patch from the SMP

1. Stop + Reset the SUM program.

2, Insert the parameter DIR_CT_SAPJVM with current path into instance profile. (Check with "sappfpar" later).

3. Restart the java instance.

4. Start the SUM and try again.

Best Regards,

Try putting it in

/usr/sap/trans/EPS/in

But you shouldn't need to unpack it, the SUM software will take care of this for you.

i just tried it  (SAR file)  and it gave me the error

/usr/sap/trans/EPS/in/SAPJVM4_33-10009693.SAR

Error: Incorrect input; provide the correct path to the directory.

Did you browse to the EPS/in directory or did you type in the value?

Also does the user running SUM have the perms needed for the EPS/in folder?

What SP level is your JSPM currently at?

Also have you tried using JSPM to complete this update?

I just tried that last week.

With SUM 8.1.

You put the SAR file in a directory by itself.

This is the compliment to a stack - you put the stack of SAR, jar, SCA, xml in a unique directory.

/usr/sap/trans/EPS/in is unsuitable because it might have reminants from prior maintenance.

You CAN use JSPM to upgrade the SAP JVM.  /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in is the correct location for that tool.

Are you using Wily agents?

SUM 8.1 crapped out generating the connector.jar, so i'm now running without wily.

Use JSPM or an earlier SUM.

Sp level 16 at initial install, I tried JSPM and put the SAR file in the EPS in box and it could not find the SAR file.

I placed it in a directory all by itself and still get the same error

Have you tried making a MOpz transaction and generating a stack file, and then run the stack file through SUM?
