Dear Seniors,
I am new to SRM and basically a MM guy. I have a doubt about material replication and internal catalog. Here it goes, when user creates shopping cart for a material, he selects either from external catalog hosted by vendor else from internal catalog hosted by MDM team. If we replicate materials from MM to SRM, will it be saved automatically under Internal catalog? or External Catalog? or somewhere else? How user could create shopping cart for those materials? i have the same doubt for vendor replication too? please clarify my doubts in detail. Thanks in advance.
Warm Regards,
Prasad J
Hi , Prasad,
If you replicate materials to SRM - you do need catalog for them. You can just order internal material with material number. No catalog features such as MDM or OCI are used. When user creates shopping cart he should order internal materials or services - additional link on the screen, where catalogs are shown.
As for vendors - you need to replicate them - then you can use them in SRM on a position tab "Source of Supply".

Hi Prasad,
Yes, Konstantin is right. Whenever the Material is transferred from ECC it never goes to the either internal or external catalog. It directly saved in the COMM_PRODUCT table in SRM and used for internal goods.
However the material and Vendor can be transferred via IDOC from ECC to MDM through the T code MDM_CLNT_EXTR and then you can call it from catalog.

Hi Prasanth,
If material is replicated from ECC to SRM then it will be stored under COMM_PRODUCT table in SRM. While creating the shopping cart, you can access this material by entering the product number.
And also if you want to add this material/product in Catalog, then you can add it. Then while creating the shopping cart you can search this product in catalog and order the cart.
It doesn't mean that if material is replicated from ECC then it shouldn't be added in catalog. Catalog will have the list of products with negotiated price per vendor.
Pls reward if its helpful...

Siva

Hi Konstantin,
Thanks for your reply. Do you mean there is no need of catalog for replicated materials in SRM? Then why MDM team is creating an internal catalog? Please clarify. Thanks.
Think about this scenario -
For the materials replicated from MM, users want to have pictures. Or they want to select 'n' number of materials and then compare them - These can be achieved by maintaining them in internal catalogs.
So, adding them to catalog or not is purely driven by your requirements!
Hope this is helpful!
