Looking for input on Framework orders and SRM extended classic scenario

All,

We are looking to implement Framework orders with item category "blank" (so not service or limit).   Is there a SAP standard process for this or does this require customizing?   If you have implemented this - any tips, watchouts you might want to share?

I thought I was in the SRM area as this is the path I followed to get here.   Products->Supplier Relationship Management => Sourcing.  

I'll move it over to Shopping Carts etc maybe that is a better place for my query.
