Hi Experts,
I wanted to find out the relevance of the customization - "Define Number Ranges" in the General node of the SPRO settings for a GRC system.
Is this setting relevant for AC, PC and RM or is it only for a single module ?
Thanks in Advance..
Regards,
Vinay Kumar.

Hi Vinay,
The number range under spro is used for defining the range for the master data that we create.
By default the number range 01$$ is provided.
Now open the node of number range select this particular entry and click on Number Range Maintenance and then Interval.
There you will find the Number Range that is defined.
Its IN 50000000 and 99999999 which means that when in the system we start creating the master data say organization, process , subprocess , etc the ID created corresponding to that will start from 50000000. In this link you can also see the current range means till waht ID the master data has been created.
This setting is common to all the components.
Hope this answers your question.

Silky
Hi Silky,
Thanks for the reply..
Here i have some doubts like :
1) How to create a new subgroup with new number range intervals?
2) How to make the created subgroup as a default one?
3) What is the difference between Internal and External Assignment?
4) Can i assign a subgroup1 to entity1 and a subgroup2 to entity2?
Regards,
Vinay Kumar
Hi Vinay,
Answers to your query
1) The subgroups are used for the HR entities,by default all HR objects shares one number range 01$$.
But you can define specific number range e.g, for orgunits and risks.
For eg: "01O" for orgunits,"01OF" for risks and "01$$" for the rest,
where the 3rd and 4th characters are "OTYPE" of the particular entity.
2) You do not have to create any default one. The subgroup for which you will maintain the interval will be used depending upon the HR object you will create.
3) Internal Noranges means system specifies automatically generated the no ranges.
External no ranges means user manually defined
4) I am not clear with the question.

Silky
Hi Silky,
I got answer for my 4th question with the help of your replies.
I understood about the number ranges but where can we check the "OTYPE" for all the entites of PC and RM?
As you said Internal for automatically generated and external for user manually defined, but here will we able to activate any one of these. if yes, where we can activate the same?
Regards,
Vinay Kumar
Hi Vinay,
There is no standard document where you can check the OTYPES specifically for the PC/RM.
But still if you have idea of the HR tables you can check from there. That can be helpful.
Secondly, when you create interval if you click on checkbox "EX" it will automtically become external number range.
Defining number range automatically makes them activated.

Silky
Hi Vinay,
Are you talking about the Setting "Define number Ranges" in the IMG -> GRC->Access control -> User Provisioning-> Define number ranges?
If yes, This option is used to specify the number ranges you want your request to take i.e. When a new request is created the request number would be in- between the number range specified.
This setting is relevant for AC. ARQ to be exact.
I hope this will help.
Thanks & Regards
