Can we increase the the description field length when we create a new incident.

Hi Experts,

I am configuring ITSM in solman SP08 , My concern is can we increase the length of description field in SM_CRM transaction when we want to create a new incident ?

If yes Kindly let me the process..

I don't think this is a great idea, cause there are may depending tables, crm and UI objects, function modules, classes, whatever. Moreover, if you want to forward messages to SAP have to use SAP's pre-defined OSS message layout.

Thanks Richard for your advice. My customer want me to do so as they are in need of long description I guess. The only wayout is to make changes in table field or can I append any new field.

just check out the whereused function for the data element CRMT_PROCESS_DESCRIPTION... it shows me more than 1400 objects where it's used.. you need to consider this!

Also, this would be a modification of SAP's standard.. maybe you'll find a solution by "extending" the message description by Z* coding
