partial substitution of project number for WBS element

Former Member

Hello ,

I have an issue with the WBS element in my project.

The projectnumber is P.1000-0001. On WBS level only P.1000 is taken . The WBS element in the  standard template is P.1111-1111.

My coding mask is P.0000-0000.00.00

Can anybody help me and tell me what is going wrong

Thanks

Davy

Hi Davy,

Could you kindly let us know few more details

As you mentioned standard template is P.1111-1111. Are you trying to create a project or WBS by copying standard  templete project. Does your standard templete P.1111-1111 WBS elements lower level WBSE structure is it truncated?.

Kindly let us know steps that you are performing .

Regards,

Vadiraj K

Hello Vadiraj ,

Thank you for your reply

When I understand , the behaviour that he does is standard.

He only copies the P.1000 in the WBS element and after -0000 no changes will be done on WBS.

I have read about an user exit CNEX0033.

Do you know this ?

Hi Davy,

I hope my earlier reply is helpful in resolving your concern.

Sorry I don't know much about the user exit CNEX0033.

Hello Vadiraj ,

Indeed the purpose is that I use a standard template to create projects with copy.

My Standard Template is existing of

P.1111-1111 ( Level 1)

P.1111-1111.01 ( Level 2)

P.1111-1111.02  ( Level 2)

P.1111-1111.03  ( Level 2)

P.1111-1111.04  ( Level 2)

When I create a project by copy ( for example P.1000-0001 project definition), the substitution would change the WBS's also in P.1000-0001 but only P.1111 is changed in P.1000. -1111 stays and will not be changed in -0001.

What do you mean with lower level WBSE structure is it truncated ?

Thank you

Hi Davy,

Thanks you for providing the requested details.

When you are creating a new project from the templete project you will be providing only project definition as input criteria.hence it only creates project with the requested project id number where as it retains the WBS element ID's (maintained after the hyphen -xxxx) as it is. Its standard SAP behavior.

When you are creating new project using copy project option

once you enter the required  new project prefix & standard templete project.

you need to click on WBS element overview ( WBS element icon provided at the bottom of that pop up)

then it will display  all the WBS elements of that standard template project.  As per your example

P.1111-1111 ( Level 1)

P.1111-1111.01 ( Level 2)

P.1111-1111.02  ( Level 2)

P.1111-1111.03  ( Level 2)

P.1111-1111.04  ( Level 2)

Click on replace it will display the first four entries ( .1111) replace it with (.1000)

Then you need to change all the WBS elements with the required prefix number & click on include

For example

P.1000-1111 to     P.1000-0001

P.1000-1111.01 to P.1000-0001.01

P.1000-1111.01 to P.1000-0001.02 & so on

So its better to re name or create new standard templete project with proper prefix entries after the Hyphen { (P.1000-XXXX) - XXXX entries should be created with 0001 entries) .

Thanks & regards
