Upgrade 4.6C to ERP2005 : PREPARE fails at LANG_SELECT

PREPARE fails at phase LANG_SELECT with message

...

Following languages could not be updated...

Specify language DVD....

The solution based on upgrade master note 822296 is to use a source release kernel 4.6D with patch level > 1041.

The kernel of 4.6C system ist patch level 2041, should be sufficient.

Language DVD has been copied to local drive too.

Any hints ?

you must supply all paths to your CD and DVD that you probably copied onto hard disk.

check which LABEL it is looking for and add it to your path.

Note that you may restart PREPARE from scratch for it to take the new paths into account. It was my case....

thanks for reply.

Paths to language CD is provided. In log files it shows that all Labels and language PAT files are found. PAT files are opened , however unpack request does not start with disassemble rc 7 .

During LANG_SELECT 7.0 version of tp seems to be called first time to unpack language files. Log files unfortunately do not give hints whether that call is made successful....

Hi Jürgen,

my clear tip here if you believe it or not:

Do copy either the complete DVD again - or perhaps better - just the file that is crashing with RC 7.

Perhaps really insert the DVD in iSeries and do a local copy with CPY or QSH and then cp ...

Hi Volker,

during problem system was running on cum package TL06142 and 4.6D kernel 2041.

After changing to cum package TL06178 and 4.6D kernel patch 2129 the issue did not happen again.
