Hello guys,
I am new to Idocs and ALE and I am wondering if I can use ALE to connect SAP R/3 with non SAP systems (inbound and outbound) or should I implement simple Idocs and do everything from scratch?
In case I can are there any differences in the customizing of ALE or is it the same as connecting R/3 to R/3?
Any help will be appreciated!!!
Thanx
Hi,
we can use ALE with NON SAP technologies if it is with in company boundaries...
if it is external (i.e outside the company boundaries),we go with XI or EDI.

Amanda,
let me explain u an example...
company named A has subsidaries B,C,D
A want get integrated with B,C,D.
here A is using SAP
B is using Microsoft
C is using SAP
D is using some other technology.
NOTE: all these B,C,D are owned by Company A
if u want to integrate these subsidaries,we can go with ALE..even though those have got NON SAP SYSTEMS.becoz these are under one company.these are under company boundaries.
if u want integrate with some other company Z with ALE....then its not possible,as it doesnt come under A.it is a third party.[b]This is not under company boundary
hope u got it now.
Cheers,
Raghavesh
Best way is if it SAP to SAP we can use ALE even SAP to No-SAP within coprate we can but it is not recommanded we you can use XI for SAP to Non-SAP.
