Wrong Item Category Determination in Sales Order

Former Member

Dear Experts,

We are facing a strange issue where wrong item category is getting determined in some of the Sales Orders at production instance.

Actually under our scenario Sales Orders are created through CRM IC portal which are finally posted to R/3 system which we can view under VA03 transaction. These sales orders carry Non Stock Items for which the item category should be determined as the "Item Category for Non Stock Items" under Sales order but for some of the cases its getting determined as TAN instead of e.g. ZNSX. Hence availability check is getting conducted at the Sales Order as a result items are not getting confirmed in Sales order for Non Stock Items.

We have checked all the configuration set up, change logs and observed nothing is changed so far.

This issue is very sporadic in nature and even on production system its not getting replicated again at both of the systems (CRM & R/3).

Since the issue is really hampering our business transactions now we want to fix this issue at the R/3 side.

Whether any body has faced such kind of issues ?

Kindly advise what fix we could apply at the standard program to resolve this issue.

Thank you,

Anubhav,

I would agree with Narendra and request you to check the transaction data (in the sales order in crm - sales document type, material,

this material's item category group, if any usage)

with

VOV4 entries.

The key to item category determination is in VOV4 (or table T184), in SAP SD.

Hi Anubhav,

Which system is leading your business, is it R3 or CRM?

I am still not clear with your query, Do you mean to say that Item category determined in CRM sales order and ECC sales order are different? or is it like in CRM its coming correct but in ECC you are getting wrong Item category TAN.

In our system we have ECC as leading system and whatever customization for Item category in ECC same is in CRM?? Do in your business you have different scenario?

Please advice to understand your query correctly.

One more addtion for material you got wrong Item category do they have same details in CRM as well as in ECC? Do your business allow material details change in CRM? In ECC and CRM material details should be same.

hello,

Please check as per below mention step.

1) If order created without reference. --> Check item cate determination in spro-> SD-> Sales -> Item cat determination with order type and item cat group of material master.

2) If order created with ref to any document --> Refer copy control(VTAA). There is a option of propose item category. Pl check accordingly.

PG

Hi Anubhav,

The material numbers is always the same when that "error" occurs?

Or the material ex:  M1 some times get the wrong item category and some times get the correct category?
