Is this on the central instance or an application server?

MMC is not starting because the services are not present, when you resolve the services issue MMC will be able to see them.

Digging through the install files, the script to create the service is probably there, but I am having trouble finding it.

Here is the command line it runs through:

D:\usr\sap\[SID]\sys\exe\run\SAPSTARTSRV.EXE pf=D:\usr\sap\[SID]\sys\profile\START_DVEBMGS00_[SAPSYSTEMNAME]

And it runs using the DOMAIN\SAPService[SID] user

Hi there,

you can create the 2 services manually using the SC.exe utility.

Check under system32 if you can see the SC.exe, if not you can download from Microsoft and place under system32, then simply run it from the command prompt:

run / cmd / sc

Good luck

thank you everyone.

well as of now i am trying to recreate the services for sap<sid>_instance number

services through SAPSTARTSRV program in the run directory.

can we also create services for the SAPOSCOL using SAPSTARTSRV program.

Awaiting reply

Thank you

SAPOSCOL uses saposcol.exe with the parameter "service"

so the service should run "D:\[path]\saposcol.exe service"

under the same DOMAIN\SAPService[SID] user

you should not use sc.exe to create the service definition of an SAP Sapstart service. This will only work if there is an old DCOM definition still available on the system.

The reason: sapstartsrv.exe is an DCOM Service. The Windows Service Definition itself does not contain the DCOM part.

Therefore you should use sapstartsrv.exe itself to create the Service.

Either start it without parameters - in this case a GUI will ask you all necessary parameters or call it with all parameters in a command line (try sapstartsrv.exe -h) to create the service.
