Parallel use of PC10.0 and AC5.3

Hello

The customer have both AC5.3 and PC3.0 installed and wish to upgrade them in diffrent time tables.

We would appriciate your advice regarding the impacts of upgrading only PC3.0 to PC10.0 while continuing to work with AC5.3.

The customer does not use the continous control monitoring functionality in PC hence the connection to the ECC system is not required at this point and will be considered only when the AC5.3 will be also migrated in the future.

Is it possible to work with PC10.0 and AC5.3 for a long term period as described here?

Kind Regards,

Shira

It seems your use of PC is pretty restricted. You say PC is not used to monitor ECC. Is it used to monitor AC?

If PC is being used strictly in isolation, then I guess it can't possibly matter what other product versions are running!

Dear Shira,

According to SAP note 1590030 you can have a co-exitance between GRC 10.0 and AC 5.3. But, SAP does not recommend to use them together for a long time period. SAP recommends to use GRCFND_A/GRCPINW and VIRSA components just for the transactional period from VIRSA to GRC 10.

Thank you,

Dear Fernando

We reviewed this note yet, if we understand correctly, it refers
to the AC5.3 and AC10.0 parallel connection to the backend system.

Our issue is relevant to a prior period of time (of up to 6-9
months) before the AC upgrade and migration to AC10.0 where PC3.0, which is now
not connected to the backend system nor will be connected to the ECC
system in version 10) will be upgraded and AC will still be in V5.3.

This means that until the AC upgrade the landscape will be as
follows:

Server 1 – PC10.0 (after upgrade from PC3.0) not connected to
the backend ECC system.

Server 2 – AC5.3 connected to the backend ECC system.

After 6-9 months the upgrade of AC5.3 will be performed to the
already existing GRC10.0 server where connectors will be maintained to the ECC
backend system and AC5.3 and AC10.0 will be working in parallel for a very
short transitional period of time.

Will appreciate your comment and advice regards the 6-9 months
period of time where PC10.0 will be in parallel to AC5.3 in 2 different servers
and only AC5.3 is connected to the backend ECC system. Is this possible? Do you
know what the impacts, if any, for this?

Kind Regards,

Shira

Dear Shira,

Sorry for the delay in my response. According to the scenario you have specified in your reply, there is no problem on PC 10.0 working in parallel with AC 5.3.

Let me know if you have further questions.

Thank you,

Fernando
