TREX on AIX 64 Bit

Dear Experts,

Can anybody clarify the TREX version on AIX OS with 64 bit.

We are about to install and all of sudden it came as a blow that TREX is not available on AIX 64 bit.

If not what is the best alternative without changing the OS.

What version of TREX are you installing. For more information about the OS for which TREX is available, please check PAM (Product Available matrix : http://service.sap.com/pam)

TREX 7.0 version is available for below platforms :

TREX 7.00 (Support Packages and Patches)

     Support Package Patches

            AIX 32bit

            HP-UX on PA-RISC 32bit

            Linux on IA32 32bit

            Linux on x86_64 64bit

            Solaris on SPARC 32bit

            Windows Server on IA32 32bit

            Windows on x64 64bit

and

TREX 7.10 (Support Packages and Patches) for below platforms

     Linux on x86_64 64bit

    Windows on x64 64bit

Thanks..We are on NW 7.0, then in that case can we use TREX 32 bit.

If not in that case, what will be the possible solution, that SAP will provide without changing the existing OS.

On the other hand, Did you arrive at any alternate ??

Unix is dying!

According the information i have, the new versions of Trex will only be available for windows and linux. We will be moving our AIX Trex to linux.

You probably should ask your SAP account manager about this too, if everybody wants Trex to run on AIX SAP will provide future versions on that platform.

PS: Unless HANA uses some core x86 architecture features which makes porting much more difficult.

But it didn't helped me ...as we are in AIX .(its not there in PAM)

Else what will be the best alternate solution without changing the OS..

Hi Srikanth,

I am on the same situation. But unfortunately based on these notes:

Note 1094413 - Applications based on SAP NetWeaver 7.0 using TREX 7.1

Note 965097 - TREX 7.1 platforms

You can't use 64bit and only 32bit TREX which is version 7.0, unfortunately new SAP version such as NW 7.3 EHP1 can't use TREX 7.0 so the only option is to use TREX 7.1

The only available platform are LINUX and Windows 64bit

You can always attempt an install on AIX, as Trex is (imo) a large collection of python scripts/gui that will index things for you.  Worse case all you loose is time trying to see if it will work for your landscape.

You may have more luck with SAP NW Enterprise Search:

As I continued looking into this, it looks like it also relys on Trex; which appears to only be for Windows and Suse.
