Gateway information in SLD?

Hello experts,

does anybody know, if it is possible to see gateway information for ecc technical systems in SLD? Like gateway server and service used for rfc channels?

I can just find the message server info until now. It would be great not to be force to look in smgw transaction in backend, since a user is required for that.

Hello Markus,

In SLD, in properties of the technical system, please navigate to the tab 'Application Servers'. There, if you click on the respective application server (for which you would like to get information on the gateway), you will receive its properties - one of them will be 'Gateway Service' where you can see gateway host and gateway service.

Hi Markus,

Each ABAP application server runs its own (local) gateway as a mandatory component of its architecture.

Apart from this, you can also install a standalone gateway.

Here, this doesn't mean that the connection from the given application server is limited to usage of its local gateway only: when configuring corresponding destinations, you can specify if they will use the local gateway (if gateway host and service are left empty) or some external gateway (e.g. gateway of the other application server of the same system, standalone gateway or gateway of the other system).

Hi Vadim,

in my case, there are three app. servers which all have the same gateway information shown in sld. Does that mean this is an external gateway because all three use the same? As you said they have to have a local gateway, but this should be different for every app server, right?

Hi Markus,

Correct. You can easily identify if the used gateway is local or not - parameters of the application server's local gateway are: gateway host = application server host, gateway service = sapgw<instance number>. Thus, if you see something different than that in properties of the used gateway in the application server, it should have been not the local gateway.

You can also cross-check this from the ABAP backend system side: for each application server, execute tx. SMGW and in gateway parameters, please check values of gateway host and gateway service. Do they correspond to what you see in properties of the technical system in SLD?
